From global guidance to runway safety in action. Turn GAPPRE and GAPPRI recommendations into practical and sustainable improvements needed to strengthen runway safety.
This four-day regional workshop provides a unique opportunity for aviation stakeholders from India, across Asia, and globally to engage with the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Incursions (GAPPRI) and the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Excursions (GAPPRE) — the global roadmaps developed through broad international collaboration to address two of aviation’s most persistent safety risks. Runway incursions and runway excursions remain among the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO’s) global high-risk categories and require coordinated action by aircraft operators, air navigation service providers, aerodrome operators, States, and regulators.
The workshop will focus on translating the extensive guidance and recommendations contained in GAPPRI and GAPPRE into practical implementation. Participants will explore the distinct prevention strategies for runway incursions and runway excursions, the responsibilities and interdependencies of different stakeholders, implementation challenges, and approaches for strengthening risk management and operational resilience.
Through implementation-focused sessions, operational examples, and exchanges with practitioners from different regions who are already putting the global action plans into practice, the workshop aims to create a shared understanding of how GAPPRI and GAPPRE can be applied in different operational and organizational contexts. Particular emphasis will be placed on connecting global guidance with practical implementation experience and supporting effective, coordinated, and sustainable implementation locally.
Join us as we:
Learn From Global Implementation Experience — Hear directly from practitioners from different regions who are already implementing GAPPRE and GAPPRI. Participants will gain first-hand insights into what has worked, the challenges encountered, lessons learned, and practical solutions developed along the
implementation journey.
Turn Global Recommendations Into Practical Action — Explore how the extensive GAPPRE and GAPPRI recommendations can be translated into practical actions within different operational and organisational contexts. The workshop will help participants identify implementation priorities, practical enablers, and pathways for progressing from awareness to implementation.
Connect the Runway Safety System Across Stakeholders — Engage with aircraft operators, air navigation service providers, aerodrome operators, and regulators to explore how their actions and responsibilities interact.
Participants will gain a broader understanding of stakeholder interdependencies and where coordinated
action can strengthen runway safety outcomes.
In-Person Location To Be Announced Soon ...
Move from awareness to implementation.
Connect with aviation professionals from across India, Asia, and beyond to explore real-world implementation, lessons learned, and the coordinated action needed to strengthen runway safety — information you can take back to your organization, whether you attend on-site or virtually.
Flight Safety Foundation will be hosting this event on a hybrid platform to allow participants to join in-person or virtually.
