Not all safety management systems (SMS) are created equally, but all have the same goal — enabling safe flight. This panel highlights leaders in drone delivery who are required to maintain an SMS under Part 135 operations. They will share their experiences in creating and maintaining an SMS that meets the needs of both industry and regulator. The conversation will also explore how an SMS for drone delivery might be different from, or the same as, traditional aviation operations and how "right sizing" for a Part 135 drone operation SMS should be made more effective by changing definitions, policy, or existing regulations.

Moderated by FSF Advanced Aviation Systems Associate Director Harrison Wolf, other topics will include unexpected challenges in implementing an SMS for a drone operation and how industry might be encouraged to participate in voluntary reporting that would help the entire industry evolve.

The overall discussion will build upon the work being led by the Advanced Aviation Advisory Committee and will be valuable to traditional aviation, new entrants, and regulators looking to support SMS application across the globe.
