With over 19 years of extensive experience in aviation safety, flight operations, and accident investigation, David Schöne is a distinguished figure in the field of aviation safety. As a committed safety advocate, David owns and runs FlightGuardian Aviation Safety GmbH, a company offering safety services including consulting, management, incident investigation, and training. Previously, David held important roles as a Safety Analyst and Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, where he enhanced flight data monitoring systems and spearheaded safety communications and investigations for TUIfly GmbH in Hannover, Germany. His robust experience is also marked by his tenure as a Freelance Accident Investigator and Assistant Head of Language Testing, roles that further solidified his expertise in analyzing and improving flight safety protocols. David has actively participated in numerous esteemed aviation safety organizations. Until May this year, he served as a representative to the Safety Management Panel (SMP) and an advisor to the Accident Investigation Panel (AIGP) at ICAO. He also held leadership roles at IFALPA, including Vice Chair of the Safety Management Working Group and Chair of the Accident Analysis & Prevention Committee, where he made significant contributions to safety management and accident prevention. Currently, David continues to serve as a member of the Accident Classification Task Force at IATA. His work extends into academia and public outreach, having presented on critical topics such as fatigue-related accidents and hot topics in aviation safety at various symposiums and conferences. This fall, David has been invited to speak at the Air Astana Regional Safety Seminar in October and the Flight Safety Foundation's International Aviation Safety Summit in November. He has also shared his insights on national television, particularly during the B737 MAX grounding, illustrating his role as a key communicator in the aviation community. David holds several certifications in accident investigation and safety risk management from renowned institutions, further enhancing his capabilities in leading and innovating safety practices in aviation.
