With over 20 years of experience teaching English for Specific Purposes in various contexts, Dr PatrĂ­cia Tosqui-Lucks is the Head of the Aeronautical English (AE) Training Sector for air traffic controllers (ATCOs) at the Airspace Control Institute (ICEA), a Brazilian Air Force Organization. Since 2009, her main activities involve leading a team of Language Experts and Subject Matter Experts into developing materials, courses and training solutions for online and onsite AE instruction; coordinating teacher training courses and providing pedagogical support to the AE Program for ATCOs in Brazil. She is also a rater for the AE test for Brazilian ATCOs. She is the leader of GEIA (Aeronautical English Research Group) in Brazil and a member of the Research Special Interest Group of the International Civil Aviation English Association (ICAEA-SIG). Patricia holds a post-doctoral research on Corpus Linguistics applied to material development and is the author and co-author of several papers about Aviation and Aeronautical English. Lately, she has included Language as a Human Factor (LHUFT) in her practices, classes and research interests.
