                                                    Professor Graham Braithwaite is Director of Aerospace and Aviation at Cranfield University. This covers world-leading work in aeronautics, propulsion, air transport management, safety and the university’s flying operations. He is also responsible for two major research facilities – the Sir Peter Gregson Aerospace Integration Research Centre (AIRC) and the Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC). Graham’s research interests are in the fields of safety management, accident and incident investigation, human factors and the influence of culture on transport safety. Having completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Transport Management and Planning and a PhD in Aviation Safety Management from Loughborough University, he was honoured as ‘Distinguished Alumni’ for his work in aviation safety and education. Graham has led two successful bids for a Queen's Anniversary Prize – the highest honour that can be given to a UK academic institution. These were for aviation safety in 2011 and in 2019, for the work of the National Flying Laboratory Centre.
