Geert is a Master in Applied Cognitive Psychology from Leiden University, specializing in human factors and human error in the industrial environment. Formerly, he was employed in human factors lecturing, training and research at universities, KLM and at the NLR, a major Dutch aerospace laboratory.
As a cognitive psychologist Geert has special insight into the skills and limitations of the human mind. He applies this to design products, processes, and systems in such a manner that these skills and limitations are taken into consideration. His goal is to optimize human performance. Tools should become more user-friendly, meetings more efficient, and workplaces become safer. Furthermore, he is interested in studying the human factors involved in safety incidents.
As an advisor he is involved in the development of the software solutions in Enablon like BowTieXP Enterprise by translating market needs and other useful insights into future development objectives. He is involved in developing current and new strategies for barrier-based risk management and incident investigation and responsible to transfer this knowledge through trainings, demonstrations, workshops and speaking at conferences to safety experts all over the world.
