Barry is the Flight Safety Officer and an A320 Captain with Aer Lingus, the national airline of Ireland. He is also the Airlines Group Lead for the Global action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Incursion (GAPPRI).
Barry has over 25 years of experience in aviation since joining Aer Lingus as a cadet, having also flown the Boeing 737 and Airbus A330. He has been an instructor on all fleets and is currently qualified as a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and ZFTT/Base Training Captain on the A320 Family.
Barry holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin and a postgraduate certificate in Safety and Human Factors from Cranfield University. Barry has recently coordinated and implemented projects on Global Reporting Format (GRF), Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Excursion (GAPPRE) and reduction of taxiway incursions.
