The China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology (Center of Aviation Safety Technology, CAAC) (CAST)is a public institution directly under the CAAC and a comprehensive scientific research institution approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Focusing on the scientific and technological research relating to the safety and development of civil aviation, CAST provides technical support for the CAAC’s decision-making and supervision, as well as technical services to the enterprises, institutions and aviation product manufacturers in the civil aviation industry.

CAST, actively implementing the requirements of the CAAC, concentrating on the strategic needs of the country and the industry, and focusing on "civil aviation safety bottom line and the mainline of intelligent civil aviation building", has made a number of major scientific and technological achievements in such fields as " intelligent supervision, intelligent safety, intelligent security, intelligent airports, intelligent airlines, and intelligent ATC", therefore leading scientific and technological innovation.
