Miss Wong joined the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Hong Kong, China in 1997. She holds a BSc First Class Honours degree (Mathematics and Statistics) with the Imperial College of the University of London. Miss Wong is also a commercial airline pilot who has held a Commercial Pilot’s Licence with Airbus A300-600 rating. She underwent air accident investigation training in Cranfield University, United Kingdom (UK) in 2008, followed by on-the-job attachment with the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) of the UK. She is a qualified air accident investigator and has participated in the investigation of a number of aircraft accidents and serious incidents following the ICAO Annex 13 requirements. Miss Wong has rich experiences in the aviation regulatory and management fields ranging from air traffic rights to flight crew licensing, aerodrome standards, flight operations and airworthiness standards, air traffic management standards, aviation safety and environmental management. She is currently the Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation, responsible for overseeing the regulation of aviation safety and security standards of aircraft operations to and from, and over Hong Kong, and provision of air navigation services within the Hong Kong Flight Information Region. Over the years, Miss Wong has participated in many ICAO workgroups and meetings, including but not limited to the Assembly, High-Level Safety Conferences, Accident Investigation Panel, DGCA Conferences, Global Market-Based Measures Technical Task Force (GMTF), Regional Aviation Safety Group (RASG-APAC) meetings, etc. Miss Wong has taken up the post of Vice Chairperson of the ICAO Regional Aviation Safety Group - Asia Pacific Regions since December 2023.
