Mr. Bimal Rathnayake is a prominent Sri Lankan parliamentarian and current Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation. Having begun his public service journey through student activism in 1989, he has since held various significant positions in Sri Lankan politics. An alumnus of Ananda College, Colombo, and the University of Moratuwa, Rathnayake has served multiple terms as a Member of Parliament since 2004. His parliamentary career has been marked by active participation in various committees, including Public Finance, Public Enterprises, and Public Accounts. Beyond domestic politics, he has maintained a strong presence in international relations, particularly through his involvement in several parliamentary friendship associations and his role in the World Peace Council.
