Adam is an aviation safety and risk consultant at Marsh, the global insurance broker and risk advisor, where he supports aviation clients from across the industry with SMS, culture and operational risk challenges. After graduating from the University of Leeds with a degree in Aviation Technology and a PPL(A), Adam joined Teledyne Controls where he learned all about flight data monitoring from a vendor’s perspective. From there, Adam joined Virgin Atlantic as a Safety Data Analyst helping the airline to better understand and proactively mitigate risk and help with safety promotion efforts. Adam then moved onto the UK CAA, where he was part of their original Performance Based Regulation team, developing tools for performance-based oversight and the framework of the CAA’s regulatory SMS. Adam then returned to the industry in Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific, where he spent four years supporting the development of their Group SMS with a particular focus on proactive risk management across all operational areas. Most recently, Adam spent four years as a senior safety manager working in the UK Rail sector, leading a safety culture transformation, and gaining a wider and deeper perspective on risk, safety, and culture. Adam has deep knowledge and experience in all aspects of SMS, risk management, organisational culture, and contemporary safety science. He is a member of the Flight Safety Foundation’s Learning from All Operations Working Group and became a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2026.
