Vishwa Uddanwadiker is vice president and chief artificial intelligence & autonomy officer for Engineering, Test & Technology at Boeing. He leads engineering productivity and innovation through the responsible use of AI and autonomy capabilities and is focused on leading AI & Machine Learning for products and services in Autonomy/Robotics, Perception, Computer Vision, Optimization & Prediction. Reporting to Boeing’s Chief Technology Officer, Uddanwadiker oversees AI research, inventions and regulator engagement, and leveraging the synergy between AI and autonomous technologies. He also leads the autonomy mission to accelerate the development and integration of autonomous capabilities across programs, with a focus on common capabilities, architectures and infrastructure. In his previous role as Generative AI chief engineer and Safety Experience vice president, Uddanwadiker managed an integrated product team training large language models with Boeing data. He was also responsible for the development of the Safety Experience, an interactive platform that promotes Boeing’s safety culture and commitment to safety. Uddanwadiker has held other engineering and technology roles at Boeing over the last 17 years, including leading the aerospace safety analytics team where he brought a strong data foundation to Boeing’s Safety Management System by advancing modeling techniques to identify hazards and fleet risks through data. Prior to joining Boeing, he served at Honeywell for six years. Uddanwadiker serves on the Technical Advisory Board for the NSF AI Institute for Dynamic Systems at the University of Washington, Seattle. In 2022, the Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA named him the Executive Asian American Engineer of the Year. He is the Boeing executive sponsor for the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. From 2014–2020, he served as an advisor to the Master of Science in information systems program at the University of Washington Foster School of Business. Uddanwadiker holds a master’s of business administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and an engineering degree in computer science with honors from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India
