Capt. Frank Baetens is an airline pilot and safety professional with more than twenty-five years of experience. He started flying in 1994, for Sabena, the former Belgian national carrier. After the bankruptcy of Sabena, he was employed by China Airlines in Taiwan. While flying on the Airbus A340 out of Taipei, he was regularly involved in Taiwanese pilot meetings with the purpose of sharing his views on aviation safety. As from 2006, he is working for TUI fly Belgium, one of the five AOCs in the larger TUI Group. At TUI fly Belgium, he is combining the flying as a captain on both the Boeing B737 and the Embraer E2 with his responsibilities within the Safety Department. As a TUI fly Safety Manager, a lot of time is spent together with the other TUI Safety Managers: focus is on the harmonizing of the many safety processes across the different TUI Airlines and the benchmarking of the Safety Performance data.
