Sophie brings a unique background in aeronautical meteorology and air traffic flow management. She graduated with both a BSc. and MSc. in oceanic and atmospheric sciences, and then joined the Meteorological Service of Canada in 2013, working first in the public sector realm before transitioning to aviation meteorology and becoming an ICAO certified aeronautical meteorologist. In 2020, Sophie joined NAV CANADA as a shift manager at the National Operations Centre, transitioning in 2022 to an operations duty manager role at the area control centre in Montreal. In this role, she was responsible for operations across the Montreal Flight Information Region, including air traffic flow management and traffic management initiative implementation at Montreal’s international airport. Sophie is also participating in multiple working groups with users from across the industry, lead the development of the Aviation Meteorology Reference, and has done research into weather impacts on air traffic flow management. In her current role as Manager for Network Aviation Weather, Sophie is primarily focused on supporting NAV CANADA’s strategic direction as it relates to weather, from product development to weather strategy. On her own time, Sophie is working towards her private pilot’s license and raising her boys in Ottawa, Ontario.
