Harry Nelson is an ex pilot who is in his 4th career period. 12 years in the Royal Air Force was followed by 21 years working for BAe Systems in a variety of roles from Deputy Chief Test pilot to Board Room roles. Airbus followed and was made up of 13 years in Flight Test and 5 years as Operational Advisor in the Product Safety Department. Having retired from Airbus, his last 7 years to date have involved specializing in Human Performance in the field of Flight Operations and Transportation Safety through his own consultancy.
His passion is working with people and helping them to achieve things that they initially would not consider possible like setting up the Flight Operations capability of the Airbus A320 final assembly line in China, from waste land site to first flight (which he flew) in under 3 years.
He is currently the Chair of the Royal Aeronautical Society Human Factors Specialist Group and a past Chair of the International Advisory Committee to the Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) . He also sits on the EAC of the FSF and the CAT/CAG and HF/CAG of the EASA risk analysis group.
