Klaus flew commercial aircraft for Lufthansa, starting in 1979; then from 1987 to 2016 on the Boeing 747. He learned about weather and helped transition NCAR convective clouds to the eFB. Publications include weather related papers . Institutional work consisted of furthering ´weather for pilots´ at EASA, becoming a Member, later an Advisor to the IFALPA Member at the ICAO Met Panel and Expert Advisor to the Hong Kong Observatory.
Projects Klaus contributed to include Eunadics AV as well as a NATO report of Environmental Particulates on Gas Turbine engines. Recent activity is as Advisory Board Member of the project E-Contrail and member of the Program Committee of the European Space Weather Week.
He is married, with 3 children, and hobbies include hiking, snowshoeing, travelling.
