Moritz is an experienced pilot, flight safety professional and human factors expert.
In 2003, he started his career in regional aviation, flying Dornier turboprops and Embraer jets before transiting to a legacy Boeing 737 operation. After serving in different roles in Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Safety Management System (SMS) training since 2011, Moritz obtained his MSC degree in Air Safety Management at City University of London between 2014 and 2017. His MSc thesis investigated the effects of different airline Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and increased automation on pilots’ manual flying skills.
From 2020 to 2022, Moritz joined a startup airline in the express cargo business, establishing its in-house CRM training program and serving in the roles of Safety Manager and Boeing 737 captain.
In addition to his role as Flight Safety Officer, Moritz recently completed the type training for his first Airbus, the A330neo, after flying Boeing 757s and 767s for Condor Flugdienst in Germany since 2022. His total airliner experience accumulates to more than 11,000 hours.
Moritz is passionate about innovation, teamwork and cooperation beyond company and country boundaries to improve flight safety and to support the ongoing transition of the aviation sector to a modern and sustainable industry.
