About the Safety Forum

The Safety Forum is a two-day event held annually at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels. Organized by Flight Safety Foundation in partnership with EUROCONTROL and the European Regions Airline Association, the Forum brings together aviation safety experts, regulators, and industry leaders to explore how cutting-edge technologies can improve decision-making and risk assessment in aviation operations. By facilitating collaboration among professionals from diverse sectors, the forum fosters the exchange of best practices and innovative solutions to address safety challenges and drive progress across the industry. The forum includes a select exhibition area, offering a curated display of cutting-edge safety products and services. This focused setting fosters meaningful networking and impactful business connections.

The 13th Safety Forum is scheduled for June 10–11, 2026, at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels.

The Forum is organised by the Flight Safety Foundation in partnership with EUROCONTROL and the European Regions Airline Association.

About the Theme

The aviation industry is undergoing a paradigm shift as the volume, variety, and velocity of data continue to grow — spanning sensor outputs, flight data monitoring systems, safety reports, air traffic and weather feeds, and more. At the same time, artificial intelligence (AI) tools are emerging not only as analytic accelerators but also as predictive companions in safety management systems.

Integrating AI-powered tools with operational and safety-specific data offers unprecedented potential: from anticipating and preventing adverse events to optimizing air traffic flows, enhancing maintenance reliability, reinforcing aviation safety, and refining training effectiveness. Yet this opportunity comes with responsibilities, including governing model explainability, addressing bias, AI hallucination detection, certifying tools in safety-critical contexts, and preserving human oversight. Understanding how machine systems, including AI, can support the cognitive work that people do while simultaneously acknowledging and accounting for how those systems interfere with the cognitive work is critically important.
