With a Ph.D. in Aviation Safety (Human Factors) and 2014 Cecil A Brownlow Award from the Flight Safety Foundation, Samir has over 40 years of senior management experience in the Aviation Industry. Starting his career as a Navy Pilot, he completed three tours of combat duty and was awarded a Medal of Honor for exceptional bravery in combat. After 21 years of military service, he transitioned to Civil Aviation in 2006. Today, he has experience dedicated towards aviation logistics support to Resource Sector Companies expertise in various types of Civil Aviation Operations and Airport Management. He specializes in managing diverse, distributed, and multi-cultural teams in high-risk operations, focusing on Enterprise Risk Management, cost control, leadership, and mentoring. Samir has implemented Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS) in military and civil aviation environments, including international airports and flight-training academies. He collaborates with the Flight Safety Foundation to deliver training programs, in English and Spanish, on Managing Contracted Aviation Risk (MCAR) and Helicopter External Load Operations (HELO). His work includes providing aviation logistics support, aviation tender support, conducting operational reviews, risk assessments, and audits under the BARS program. He has published five books on the topic of Aviation Safety, which have collectively achieved sales exceeding two million copies. Following the completion of his Ph.D. research, he has concentrated on developing innovative and distinctive methodologies for Safety Risk Management, informed by field observations during his engagements in Operational Reviews, Audits, and Risk Assessments. His core expertise lies in the management of Part 135 operations, Helicopter External Load Operations and implementation of the BARS program in aviation operations of resource sector companies.
