Virginio Corrieri has built a distinguished 31-year career in the Brazilian Army, where he rose to the rank of Colonel. A specialist in aviation and operational safety, he served as a helicopter pilot and air accident investigator and holds a Master’s degree in Military Sciences. Over the course of his service, he led high-profile missions, including acting as a UN Military Observer in Sudan, serving with the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington (USA), and commanding the Presidential Guard Battalion in Brasília, where he was responsible for 1,800 military personnel. Transitioning to the private sector, he further strengthened his expertise in flight safety, joining OMNI Taxi Aéreo, one of the world’s largest offshore operators, and later serving as Aviation Security Manager at Avianca Brasil. Since June 2019, he has been the Director of Safety and Flight Operations at the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), where he plays a leading role in advancing aviation safety and operational development across the LATAM/CAR region.
