Michael is Australia’s nominated Subject Matter Expert on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Safety Management Panel and a contributor to a number of ICAO task forces. He is also a nominated representative on the ICAO Asia and Pacific Regional Aviation Safety Team (APRAST), Australia’s State Safety Programme Cross Agency Team (SSP-CAT), Chairs Australia’s National Runway Safety Group (NRSG) and represents Australia at international aviation safety meetings.
Extensive expertise in internal systems audit programs and standards, having conducted internal systems audits at QANTAS, established audit processes for Queensland Rail, led the development of CASA's oversight process and tools and developed the CASA Surveillance Manual and Sky Sentinel database
Experienced leader and manager, having implemented performance-based assessment capability to support safety management systems regulations, conducted gap analysis campaigns, and mentored teams to establish cohesive structures for regulatory approval and oversight, including the embedding of Safety Systems capability within the Australian aviation safety regulator inspectorate.
