Dr. Seema Chopra is an Executive Director and Senior Technical Fellow, Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Boeing Company. As the only global AI senior technical fellow outside of the Boeing U.S., she is responsible for leading Boeing’s global AI and Machine Learning (ML) efforts, and for driving synergies between Boeing U.S. and global teams to enable the development, maturation, and transition of AI/ML technologies into Boeing. Dr. Chopra has extensive expertise in AI/ML, analytics, and natural language processing in application areas, including aircraft fault diagnosis and prognosis, engineering automation and performance improvement. She holds more than 25+ patents and has registered over 10 trade secrets to date. She has also published 35+ papers in various international and national journals to help advance knowledge in the fields of AI/ML and fault diagnosis and prognosis. Dr. Chopra has co-authored two books, of which her book “Integrated Aircraft Health Management” was launched by the Honorable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. A certified Black belt – Design for Six Sigma, Dr. Chopra is a recipient of several prestigious awards and recognitions. She was named as “Technologist of the Year” by the IEEE Computer Society in 2023; received the SWE Prism Award in 2023; recognized as the “Innovator of the Year” in 2022 by Aditya Birla group and Nasscom; named as “Women Achiever” by IEEE TEMS; Women in Engineering Achiever by IEEE in 2019, among others. She was also listed as one of top 51 Indian women achievers for her contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), published in an e-Book on “Indian Women in STEM” by CII Tamil Nadu Technology Development & Promotion Centre (TNTDPC). Prior to Boeing, Dr. Chopra was Prognostic Health Management (PHM), Technical Leader with GE Power and Water. In this role, Dr. Chopra helped develop PHM technologies to enable strategic growth for condition-based maintenance. Dr. Chopra has earned a Ph.D. in control engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. She holds a master’s degree in technology with distinction in control engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, and a bachelor’s degree in technology in instrumentation and control engineering from the Kurukshetra University. Dr. Chopra lives with her husband and two sons in Bengaluru and is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys long-distance cycling, swimming, and yoga.
