Barry is currently the Flight Operations Policy Lead at the UK CAA, he is responsible for a team of specialists covering Rotary, Fixed wing, Certified RPAS, eVTOL, Dangerous Foods, FDM and FTL. Barry and his team are also responsible for updating the UK’s Air Operations regulations to meet the ICAO Annex 6 standards since the transition from the EU and EASA regulatory framework. Barry has recently become is the UK’s Flight Operations Panel Member at ICAO and is currently leading a project to review of the UK’s fatigue management regulations.

Barry has an extensive regulatory background having held several roles at the UK CAA in Flight Crew Licensing and Flight Operations. He was a Senior Operations Inspector for 10 years in the Flight Operations Department, conducting audits and inspections on UK operators. Barry moved to EASA in 2013 becoming an Air Operations Standardisation Team Leader conducting standardisation audits on the National Aviation Authorities of the EASA Member States. Barry was also a member of EASA’s FTL panel of experts assessing applications for flight time specification schemes that deviated from the prescriptive European FTL regulations.

After leaving EASA in 2019, Barry spent 3 years at the Qatar CAA as an Operations Inspector and National Co-ordinator for the Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) programme.
