About MCAR
Participants will gain an understanding of the Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BAR Standard) and how it can be used by personnel to help identify potential aviation safety risks. Participants will use the knowledge gained in these courses to review their companies’ aviation management policies & procedures and formulate appropriate risk management strategies to manage identified day-to-day risks associated with contracted aviation operations.
Training Objectives
- Introduce participants with little to no aviation knowledge, to the basic principles of flight and aviation operations (Aviation 101)
- Provide a detailed overview of the BARS Program and the BAR Standard
- Explain basic aviation risk principles
- Explain frequently used aviation industry terms
- Provide a range of tools that assist personnel to identify hazards, risks, and threats specific to the contracted aviation sector
The Training modules are delivered with four Instructor-Led-On-Line (ILOL) sessions with each session consisting of three 1-hour blocks with two 15-minute breaks.

Who is MCAR Training for?
Attendees who join the program represent departments involved in the development, monitoring, implementation, and enhancement of contracted aviation safety activities within the sector. Learning outcomes will support roles with accountability for decisions that directly impact the selection of service providers for aviation activities, support roles can include:
- Mine/Site Asset Manager
- Contract Administrators
- Corporate Assurance/Risk Managers
- Executive Managers (with accountability for decisions that directly impact the selection of service providers for aviation activities)
- Any accountable onsite personnel; and
- All personnel who are involved in aviation operations as part of their day‐to‐day activities

Payment Options:
- Credit Card | Paid in full immediately
- Invoicing | Deferred payment - must be paid in full withing 30 calendar days of registration.
Both options will provide you with an invoice.
Purchase Order: If you need a quote for your company, select the Invoice option on the checkout page to generate an invoice you can submit for internal approval. Once approved, log back into your registration to add a purchase order number (if needed), then reprint the invoice and forward it to your accounting department for payment processing.
Transfer Your Registration: To change the name of the person attending the training, log in to your account and update the registration with the new attendee’s contact information. The new attendee will receive an email confirmation. When they log in for the first time, they’ll just need to reset the password— the reset link will be sent to their email address.
Cancellation: allowed on a case-by-case basis. Typically, we will transfer your payment to a future training. If you need to cancel, please contact bars@flightsafety.org or events@flightsafety.org for assistance.
