About the Safety Forum
Accidents rarely stem from single causal events; there are often warning signs present that the system failed to connect.
The sky is not an empty space between departures and arrivals - it is a dense, dynamic system of trajectories, decisions, constraints and surprises.
Every day, aircraft, drones, balloons, restricted areas, weather, automation and human judgement shape the risk of airborne conflict, sometimes in ways that only become visible when margins are already shrinking.
Preventing airborne conflicts means seeing the warning signs earlier, designing stronger safety nets and ensuring that people, procedures and technology act together before proximity becomes “Danger”.
The theme of the 14th Safety Forum to be held the 25-26 May 2027 at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels is “Safe Skies: Preventing Airborne Conflicts”. The Forum is organised by the Flight Safety Foundation in partnership with EUROCONTROL.
The Forum will also work in synergy with the Flight Safety Foundation’s Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Airborne Conflict (GAPPAC), a global multi-stakeholder initiative coordinated by FSF and CANSO that brings together the aviation community to identify opportunities for preventing airborne conflicts and develop practical recommendations.
It will bring aircraft operators, ANSPs, regulators, manufacturers and the wider aviation community together to confront emerging risks and shape the next generation of safe airspace operations. Because safe skies are created by how the whole system anticipates, detects and resolves conflict.
