Mr. Muhammad Nazirul Izzat bin Mahat serves as the Head of the State Safety Programme (SSP) and an Inspector for Air Traffic Management (ATM) at the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). With over a decade of experience in the aviation sector, he brings a unique perspective rooted in practical expertise and regulatory knowledge. He began his career in aircraft maintenance, laying a solid foundation in aviation operations, before transitioning to Air Traffic Control (ATC), where he served for 11 years. His extensive ATC experience has shaped his understanding of aviation safety and operational complexities. In his current role, Mr. Nazirul Izzat is dedicated to advancing Malaysia’s State Safety Programme, with a specific focus on the Safety Data Collection and Processing System (SDCPS) to enhance safety data management and analysis. Under his leadership, CAAM has achieved significant milestones, including improved safety oversight and engagement with international aviation safety initiatives.
