Aviation training methodologies have evolved significantly over the past few decades. In the past, curricula for training programmes were set at a high level and the training design and approach was primarily left up to individual instructors. The emergence of performance-based approaches used a reverse engineering approach that set training objectives that more closely matched the needs of the job. In recent years, training methodologies have evolved to include core competencies and evidence-based training. This expert panel will explore the suitability of existing methodologies and where they may need to evolve in the face of rapidly evolving aviation technologies and the training styles of our next generation of aviation professionals.
