Safety Forum 2026 THEME:
DATA AND AI FOR OPERATIONAL SAFETY: OPPORTUNITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The 13th Safety Forum is scheduled for June 10-11, 2026, at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels. The Forum is organised by the Flight Safety Foundation in partnership with EUROCONTROL and the European Regions Airline Association.
The Organizing Committee invites submissions to present as a speaker. Submissions should provide fact-based insights or proven practical approaches in operations from frontline early implementers, and must avoid promotional content.
Possible Presentation Topics
PREDICTIVE SAFETY IN FLIGHT OPERATIONS
- Predictive maintenance: For example, applying AI to aircraft sensor and health data for early detection of mechanical anomalies.
- Flight-phase risk prediction: Leveraging AI-driven models for real-time hazard monitoring, such as forecasting unstable approaches, runway excursions, or turbulence related risks.
- Human performance monitoring: For example, using AI to assess controller or pilot workload and fatigue to reduce error risk.
AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND GROUND SAFETY USE CASES
- Air traffic management: For example, using AI to detect conflicts, optimize sequencing, and dynamically manage airspace to improve traffic safety.
- Ground operations: For example, computer vision and sensor analytics to prevent runway incursions, apron collisions, and surface hazards.
ADVANCED SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING
- Efficient use of safety data and reporting: For example, applying AI techniques (such as natural language processing) to enhance the efficiency of safety reporting, extract safety precursor insights, and support the identification and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Adaptive training and simulation: For example, AI-augmented tools to generate customised scenarios and provide performance-based feedback to trainees.
- Data sharing frameworks: For example, enabling predictive safety through secure, trusted collaboration across airlines, regulators, and ATM bodies.
REGULATORY AND CERTIFICATION APPROACHES
- Lessons and frameworks from international, regional, and national regulators on validating AI systems in aviation.
Submit your Presentation
The Event Organizing Committee will only consider submissions received using this form.
We use the online platform, JotForm for submission collection. You will be prompted to create a free login when you click the button above.
🛈 Presentation submission deadline: February 1, 2026
What to Expect
- Receipt of your submission will be acknowledged via email.
- All submissions will be reviewed independently by a team of reviewers. The outcome of the selection process will be communicated the first week of March 2026.
- If selected, your presentation time slot will be 20 minutes plus 8 minutes for Q&A.
- If selected, your PowerPoint presentation must be received by May 6, 2026.
- All presentations delivered during the 2026 Safety Forum will be video recorded. The purpose of these recordings is to publish them in full length on SKYbrary for the benefit of the aviation community. All speakers will be asked to sign a video recording consent form and a presentation release form. A PDF of the presentations (that are approved for release only) will be provided to attendees post-event.
