Name
Session 7 | Runway, Airport and Surface Safety
Date & Time
Wednesday, November 6, 2024, 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM
George Hodgson Gerard Van Es Sven Grassmueck Yannick Vanhecke
Description

Airports are busier every year, and the added traffic means increased chances of runway incursions, runway excursions, and collisions between aircraft on the ground. Few new airports are being built, so existing airports must become more innovative about accommodating more aircraft. Runway incursions and excursions are high-risk occurrences because of their frequency and the potential for catastrophic outcomes. Systems and procedures can be put in place to address the problem, but human action is key. In this session, panelists will provide insight on how systems and procedures can be enhanced to improve runway safety.
